Healthcare

The City of Highland is blessed to have a hospital within the corporate boundaries.  St. Joseph’s Hospital, operated by the Hospital Sisters Health System, sponsored by the Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis has had a presence in Highland for over 130 years.  St. Joseph’s Hospital offers quality inpatient and outpatient care, including a nationally-recognized cardiac care network, top-ranked emergency care, state-of-the-art diagnostics and revolutionary, minimally invasive surgeries. St. Joseph’s also provides healthcare education, wellness and prevention information to the greater Highland area.

The Hospital Sisters Health System also operates an urgent care facility in Highland, as does Anderson Hospital. Both provide fast, reliable and economical services to the region. There are many top rated hospitals located within 40 miles of Highland.

Currently, a new St. Joseph’s Hospital and health center is being built and should be completed in 2013.  The facility will be 90,000 square feet on a 60-acre site in Highland which will allow for future growth and expansion opportunities.  The new hospital and health center will focus on healing and wellness with an emphasis on outpatient treatment and therapy.  The new St. Joseph’s Hospital and health center will eliminate the need to travel outside of Highland in order to receive preeminent care.

In addition the following resources are also available in Highland:

  • Ambulatory Surgical Center
  • Assisted Living Facilities
  • Nursing Homes
  • Senior Retirement Community

“The City of Highland is a collaborative, engaging, and proactive partner that St. Joseph’s Hospital is fortunate to have in support of our plans to build a new hospital. The hospital’s plans for growth are aligned with the city’s future development plans with the common goal to make Highland a more attractive place to live, work and play.” - Peggy A. Sebastian, President and CEO - St. Joseph’s Hospital.
